So, let me explain the title.

I was born in the 1950s and grew up in the 1960s—a decade that is still very dear to me. Years ago, when I started an Instagram account, I called myself a “Sixties Man” because I happened to be in my sixties.

Today I’m in my seventies, so the title has naturally evolved into A Sixties Seventies Man. It also reflects another important part of my life. I was in college from 1970 to 1974, got married in 1975, and became a father in 1979. The 1970s shaped me just as much as the 1960s. More than fifty years later, books and music remain two of the great constants in my life.

I’ve gone from reading the World Book Encyclopedia to reading on a Kindle. I’ve gone from spinning 45s on a record player to streaming millions of songs on Spotify. Yet I still love physical books, still collect vinyl records, and still enjoy discovering new authors and musicians.

This site is about that lifelong safari of exploration—looking back without living in the past, continuing to learn new things, and sharing the books, music, memories, and discoveries that have shaped my life.

The word safari means “journey,” and that’s exactly what this site is—not a checklist, but an exploration. Along the trail you’ll find music, books, family stories, genealogy, running, and the unexpected discoveries that make life memorable.

Both my music listening and reading trees have story grown from Roots, reached into Branches, and continues to produce new Leaves. My family grew from the roots our marriagem branched into our children and the new leaves our choldren continue to sprout!
